By reading this site you accept what is below. It is written to be understood rather than to be unreadable, which means it is shorter than most.

Everything here is published for information. It is not legal, immigration, tax, financial, medical or insurance advice, and reading it does not create a professional relationship of any kind.

Immigration and insurance decisions turn on facts about you that no article can know: your nationality, your income, where you are tax resident, what you were treated for and when. Before you file anything or buy anything, check it against the authority that issues it, or a professional licensed where you are going.

Numbers go out of date

Every figure here is traced to a source and dated when it is published. Fee schedules change, income thresholds are revised, policy wording is rewritten, and consulates change their processing times without announcing it.

So a figure on this site is a record of what the source said on the day it was read. It is not a guarantee of what you will be charged. Where the number matters, the source is linked, and the source is the one to trust.

If you find something out of date, see the contact page. That is the fastest way it gets fixed.

Some links on this site earn a commission if you buy through them. It costs you nothing extra and it does not change the price you pay.

Two commitments about that. The research is done before any commission is considered, and it does not bend to it. And an article that concludes a product is the wrong choice carries no link to it, however well that programme pays. Where a link is commercial, the page it sits on says so.

Advertising and cookies

This site carries third-party advertising, including Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites.

You can turn off personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, and opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info. Your browser's own settings will block cookies here as well.

What you can do with what is here

The writing, the tables and the images on this site belong to it. Quote a passage with a link back and that is fine. Republishing an article, or enough of one that nobody needs to read the original, is not. If you want to reuse something properly, ask.

Facts are not owned by anyone. If a fee is 320 euros, that number is not mine and you are free to use it. What is asked is that you do not copy the work of having found and checked it.

Articles here link out constantly, and on purpose, because a claim without its source is worth nothing. Those sites are not under any control of this one. Linking to a page is not an endorsement of the company behind it, and what happens once you leave is between you and them.

Liability

This site is provided as it is. No promise is made that it is complete, current or error free, and it is not liable for a loss that comes from acting on something read here. That includes a fee that turned out to be higher, an application that was refused, and a claim an insurer declined.

That is not an attempt to escape being wrong. Corrections are published and credited. It is a limit on what a website can reasonably be responsible for when the decision, and the paperwork, are yours.

Where the law where you live gives you rights that cannot be signed away, this section does not try to take them.

Changes

These terms change when the site does. The date below is the last time they were revised, and continuing to use the site after that is acceptance of the current version.
